Natural Pathways
For Normal Blood Pressure

Let’s get serious about healthy blood pressure. If you want to support normal blood pressure, the following herbs, co-enzymes and nutrients, which are all part of the Pressure Control formula, should be part of your daily health regimen.

My Health Blood
Pressure Regimen
H
awthorn (Crataegus fruit) has been used since the Middle Ages to support the heart and help normalize cardiovascular functions.
In a study published in the journal Life Sciences, it was found that this herbal medicine has profound relaxation effects on the blood vessel walls, allowing blood to flow through them more easily at a lower blood pressure.

European studies have shown that this botanical increases blood flow to the heart and brain, helps protects the heart from irregular beats, enhances the strength of the heart’s contractions, and mildly lowers blood pressure. Compounds in hawthorn can help protect the heart against oxygen deprivation, a condition that often leads to angina, a disease marked by intense chest pain. This makes hawthorn a wonderful preventive herbal medicine.

Hawthorn is rich in bioflavonoids, which relax and dilate the arteries. These compounds are powerful antioxidants that help to prevent build-up of plaque on the arteries, as well as increase the flow of blood and oxygen to the heart. When the endothelial vessels are relaxed, this reduces the work required by the heart to circulate blood, and may help reduce blood pressure and stress to the heart muscle. The bioflavonoid substances in hawthorn give strength to the walls of blood vessels and improve blood flow to other areas of the body. Components in hawthorn have also been shown to lower cholesterol and the amount of plaque in arteries.

In Europe, hawthorn in combination with medical drugs is given for cardiac problems such as palpitations, angina, and rapid heart beat.

Highest CoQ10 Levels in Heart
E
nzymes are protein compounds found in all living things; they are essential to energy production, tissue repair, and cell division. Coenzyme Q-10 (CoQ10), also part of Pressure Control, is an antioxidant and essential energy co-factor for the heart whose highest concentrations, not surprisingly, are found in heart tissue.
As we age, the body loses its ability to manufacture adequate amounts of CoQ10. Some experts say levels of CoQ10 can decline by as much as 80 percent as you age.

The heart needs a constant supply of energy for its continuous actions of pumping and contracting, but without CoQ10 it can’t do its job. Because the richest concentrations of CoQ10 are in the heart, preventing a deficiency by supplying the body with sufficient amounts may promote healthy activity and nourish the circulatory system. As many as 75 percent of heart patients are found to be deficient in CoQ10. In my own scientific research, I have noted CoQ10 to be a premiere life-extension nutrient with strongly supported health qualities. I am convinced of its life extension properties and think it should be in everyone’s healthy heart regimen.

Gotu Kola Enhances Tranquility
Since so often we find high blood pressure is related to daily stress, gotu kola is an important herb for blood pressure patients. This slender, creeping plant grows commonly in localized swampy areas of Asia, Africa, and the tropics. The size of an old British colonial-period penny—we can see how

it came to be known as Indian pennywort, marsh penny and water pennywort (with “wort” being the ancient anglo-saxon word for plant).
Gotu kola is regarded as one of the most spiritual and rejuvenating herbs in Ayurveda, the ancient medicine of the Himalayas. Today, this herb has become popular to promote relaxation, cleanse the blood, enhance brain function, and for strengthening the collagen fibers of the body’s connective tissues and circulatory vessels.
Garlic helps lower cholesterol and blood pressure. It is also known to help thin the blood which reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Doctor’s Healthy
Heart Prescription
I
t is often far more savvy to purchase these herbs already combined in an all-natural formula. Pressure Control is available by using the order form in the center of this journal.
For maximum benefits, you should also support normal blood cholesterol levels. I often recommend that Pressure Control be combined with the Cholest-Less formula from Whitewing Labs (see the article located on page 7).
