aw palmetto berry concentrate is
probably the most scientifically
validated natural agent for helping
men to maintain prostate health. A key
ingredient in Prostsafe
®
from Whitewing
Labs, Prostsafecombines saw palmetto
with other natural components for optimum
prostate health. For most men this is the
answer to their prostate needs. However,
when saw palmetto does not work, it is time
for men to turn to different combinations of
herbs as found in Whitewings other
formula for prostate health, Prostsafe
Plus. Prostsafe Plusbolster
the power of
®
saw palmetto berry concentrate with
additional herbal synergists that address
other prostate health issues.
When men who have been taking saw
palmetto berry concentrate do not get the
results that they desire, the reason may be
that they are suffering from more than an
enlarged prostate. The prostate may also be
inflamed due to causes other than
infections. Thats when its time to take
the
Prostsafe Plusformula, which combines
saw palmetto with Pygeum africanumand
nettle root.
Help for BPH &Prostatitis
S
ometime during their lives, most
men will experience discomfiting
bouts of either acute or chronic
prostatitis, an inflammation of the prostate
gland, that often, although not always,
results from bacterial infection.
The prostate gland and seminal vesicles
(two small saclike glands, located on each
side of the bladder in males, that add
nutrient fluid to semen during ejaculation)
form a unit embryologically, anatomically
and functionally. The prostate is an organ
which is well supplied with blood and
normally undergoes periods of congestion.
It is the central point of the male organ
system and is liable to be afflicted with acute
or chronic infections. Approximately 30
percent of males between the age of 25 and
40 years with prostate complaints have true
prostatitis. Because of the similarity of
symptoms to benign prostatic hyperplasia
(BPH or enlarged prostate), it is difficult
even for experts to differentiate the various
clinical syndromes.
Although prostatitis can strike men of
almost any age, it is most likely to occur and
persist in a chronic state in older men who
also suffer BPH.
Often, without precise diagnosis, it is
difficult to tell whether the condition is
prostatitis or BPH, since in both conditions,
swelling or enlargement of the prostate gland
narrows the urethra and blocks the flow of
urine. However, acute prostatitis usually begins
with a high fever, chills and pain in and around
the base of the penis and behind the scrotum.
The rectum may feel full, producing an urge to
move the bowels.
At this time, conventional treatment
consists of warmth (e.g., hot sitz baths);
encouraging a regular sexual life; drug
therapy, including antibiotics, anti-
inflammatory drugs and alpha-blockers;
prostatic massage; and, occasionally, surgery.
Since BPH may be accompanied by
inflammation not due to infections, a multi-
herbal prostate health supplement that
addresses this problem should also be
utilized when saw palmetto alone isnt
enough. Such a supplement should contain
standardized extracts of saw palmetto,
nettle root, and pygeum, as well as vitamin
C, selenium,
and vitamin E.
The reason for a multi-herbal approach
is that of the major herbs used in western
medicine known to promote prostate
health, each seems to have a slightly
different mode of action, according to
recent research from the Department of
Urology, University of Essen, Germany.
The fatty acid and sterol extracts from
saw palmetto berries block the enzyme
responsible for converting free testosterone
to the undesirable dihydrotestosterone
molecule, thus helping to shrink the prostate.
At the same time, nettle has anti-
inflammatory effects, reducing swelling.
Often accompanying both prostatitis and
BPH, bladder dysfunction is a major
affliction associated with male aging. In
fact, it is often overlooked but, as men age,
they often suffer severe, irreversible
alterations in bladder function, including
partial or complete outlet obstruction.
Researchers have identified major cellular
changes in the bladder which result from
such obstruction, including progressive free
radical-related damage to the nerves and
cellular mitochondria (energy factories) of
the bladder.
A recent experimental study from
Albany College of Pharmacy, New York,
shows that pretreatment with pygeummay
reduce the severity of metabolic
dysfunction associated with partial outlet
obstruction.
The best course of action is to use a
multi-herbal combination formula. Try
Prostsafefrom Whitewing Labs. And
when saw palmetto isnt quite enough,
Prostsafe Plusmay be what men need to
start feeling good again.
