Progesterone Creams Medically Validated
by Donna Alderman, D.O.

I have recently been recommending that virtually all of our women patients consider using natural progesterone creams such as ProTrans Cream from Whitewing Labs which is a rich source of natural progesterone and phytoestrogens from soy. I’ve also recommended Evening Glow to many of my women patients for perking up their sexual energy.

Wild Yam,
a natual source of progesterone

I’m gratified that a recent report from the 16th World Congress on Fertility and Sterility confirms my recommendations.
In a recent study, 93 postmenopausal women, 52 of whom were suffering menopausal symptoms, were given either natural progesterone cream or a placebo and told to apply a small amount to the skin daily.
Of these women, 83% of the women who used the progesterone cream experienced significant improvement in their menopausal symptoms. Only 14% of the women given placebo reported an improvement in their symptoms.
These results confirm what I have long seen in my own practice: natural progesterone creams such as ProTrans Cream really do help.
Indeed, there’s more good news about ProTrans Cream. Another key ingredient in this unique formula is wild yam. We now know that wild yam is an amazingly important medicine for women’s health. In a study published in a recent issue of Life Sciences {1996; 59(11): PL147-157}, it was found that wild yam significantly reduced serum lipid peroxidation, lowered serum triglycerides and raised levels of high density lipoproteins (the “good” cholesterol). This all goes to show that mature women can markedly improve their cardiovascular health simply by using ProTrans Cream.
Natural Health Tip: I want to emphasize that the same study found the cream did not prevent bone or hip bone loss. That’s why I urge my women patients not only to use ProTrans Cream but to take both OsteoSafe® and ProPause® together for further protection against thinning bones. Guide to Herbal Energizers
This fall, as the days grow shorter and you call upon your energy reserves for help in getting more done in the evenings, you should have an energy ally. If not, by the time night rolls around, you may be too exhausted to do anything.
I call Vim! pure bottled energy. Its contingent of traditional herbal energizers makes it perfect for promoting high energy levels all day. It is especially important to use as the days become shorter and our energy reserves are called upon. What’s more, unlike other energy formulas, Vim! is free of both caffeine and ephedrine.
Bee pollen helps to modulate blood sugar levels all day. Niacin enhances energy flow by improving the flow of blood to the brain and heart. Choline builds an essential neurotransmitter

that helps maintain alertness. Siberian ginseng helps the body to adapt to stress and perform complex tasks well even under stressful conditions. Ginkgo biloba helps improve circulation throughout the body and maintain healthy memory function.
St. John’s wort can help you to overcome the winter blues and seasonal affective disorder (due to less sunlight) thanks to its powerful mood-enhancing phytochemicals, hyperforin and hypericum.
Natural Health Tip: I strongly recommend that you consider using Vim! every day this fall for enhanced energy and feeling great from morning into the night.

Green Tea Protects Cells
If you’re not taking a green tea supplement, perhaps the April 1 issue of Nature will convince you that green tea is one of the most important nutritional allies available to health-conscious consumers today.

Swedish researchers at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm determined that green tea contains a compound called epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), which helps inhibit blood vessel growth that nourishes cells with damaged DNA. Other studies have shown EGCG blocks an enzyme needed for damaged cells to reproduce but without harming surrounding healthy cells.
Natural Health Tip: Researchers caution against heavy consumption of green tea for women who are pregnant and people recovering from wounds. Otherwise, we recommend that you take Green Might daily with its high green tea content. This formula is expecially important for anyone who does not consume green tea on a daily basis. Order Green Might at its special sale price! Or order Green Might as part of the Mighty Might package, from the order form in the center of this journal.

Take a cooking class!

I recently took some cooking classes at the Los Angeles Culinary Institute, (818) 380-1139. It was a great experience! You will spend about four hours with one of the three resident chefs. Our chef was Raimund Hofmeister, one of only 52 master chefs worldwide.
Attend the class with your spouse, your friend, or go alone and make some new friends.
The Institute offers classes usually on a quarterly schedule.
Call them for Singles, Chinese, Philippine, French, or California Cusines. Prices vary from $45.00 to $75.00 per class for any of the Master Chef Series and remember, this includes eating what was prepared during the class. If you are not located in Los Angeles, look for similar classes in your city. Bon appetit!
