| As
in the following story, many men reaching the prime of life, late forties and beyond, feel
age may be the major factor in a decline in their sexual ability. While age certainly is a
factor, diet, exercise and nutrition are key players. Tom came to me completely discouraged about his inability to maintain an erection. He had had an active sex life in his twenties, thirties and early forties, but at age 48 he just couldnt go the distance. Twice divorced, he was actively dating but found he had lost the ability to perform in the bedroom. At first he thought his problem was due to advancing age, but his urologist and a sex therapist assured him his problem was due less to age and more to his mental and physical lack of well-being. He had never wanted for attention from the ladies and was still considered to be quite handsome, though limited exercise and a diet that could keep McDonalds and Burger King in business, had added its share of pounds. Stress from work, child support payments and failed attempts at finding a lasting relationship had left Tom depressed and anxious. He assumed that his sexual life was probably over until he read an article about men who were starting over in middle age and totally remaking their lives, enjoying new-found happiness and youthful vitality. The article also pointed out that in many non-medical sexual problems, professional guidance had helped successfully |
reverse the downward spiral of sexual
desire and arousal for men who were determined to conquer their mental and physical
problems. With advice from me, Tom made changes to his diet and improved his exercise habits. He lower his intake of animal fat, increased his consumption of vegetables, fruits and grains, and stopped drinking alcohol in favor of organic fruit juices and lots of spring water. He started a daily routine of hour-long brisk walks and began using light weights. He also did some crunches to tighten his abdominal muscles. Instead of evenings alone in front of the television, Tom got active by going to comedy clubs and joining social groups where he could laugh a little, make new friends and improve his dating techniques. Ginseng May Help Men |
ability to enhance nitric
oxide (NO) synthesis in the endothelium of the penis corpus cavernosum.
Enhanced NO synthesis in the spongy erectile tissues of the penis contributes to
vasodilatation and perhaps also to an aphrodisiac action of the root, notes Yale
researcher C.N. Gills in a 1997 report in Biochemistry and Pharmacology. Meanwhile, Korean researchers report in the International Journal of Impotency Research that ginseng is highly beneficial. In the group receiving ginseng, changes in early detumescence and erectile parameters such as penile rigidity and girth, libido and patient satisfactions were significantly higher than that of other groups.
